Thanksgiving 2009

We had a really good, relaxing Thanksgiving holiday this year. Lee and I both had to work Wednesday and Friday, but we made the most out of our holiday off. Lee drove over to Demopolis after work Wednesday evening so he could get up early Thanksgiving Day to go hunting with my Dad. Kylie and I decided to wait and drive over Thursday morning. Poor thing is cutting her three other molars so nights have been a little rough this week. We got up and made the drive to Demop to meet everyone for an early lunch. We started off lunch with Bloody Mary's that were out of this world. So good! After finishing drinks and of course watching last year's Auburn vs Alabama game in preparation of the Iron Bowl on Friday, we ate a wonderful lunch. Kylie loved turkey and dressing and all of the fixings. After finishing up lunch with my Dad's family, we went over to see my other Grandparent's and visit with my Aunt Tina. Lee and the guys went hunting again Thursday afternoon and Kylie and I made our way back to Selma. It was a quick holiday this year! Happy Thanksgiving!

Turkey Party

Today Kylie and I hosted the Thanksgiving Party for her class. It was lots of fun. We brought juice, chicken mcnuggets, fries from Mickey Ds, and cookies with sprinkles and orange icing. I wanted to do some really cute turkey cookies, but most of the recipes called for candy corn which Kylie can't even eat so we went a different route. All of the kids loved their lunch and I had a great time visiting with all of the cute little ones!

Busted

How does something so little create such a BIG mess? This happened in a matter of 5 seconds when I went to put a load of clothes in the washer.

Pictures Are Worth 1000 Words

Everyone always says how I am so "lucky" to work from home. Actually, working from home is worse to me than being in the office (except for the driving part of course). On the days I am at home, Tuesdays and Thursdays, Kylie goes to school and then Ms. Frieda comes over to help out in the afternoons. Ms. Frieda usually leaves at 4pm so I always have that hour from 4-5pm in which I am hoping that I do not receive a work email with a big project that needs to be completed immediately or a notice for a last minute conference call. Well yesterday was a day in which of course I received about 20 emails from 4-4:30 and all were things that needed to be addressed by 5. So I took Kylie into the living room with me (my makeshift office) and looked around for something that would keep her occupied. She immediately went for a bright purple highlighter. I knew it was not a good idea so I tried to take it away, and of course that resulted in an all-out fit which I really did not have time to deal with...so I gave in and handed her the highlighter (I know not a good decision) and two blank pieces of paper. She took them and sat on the rug and went to creating a masterpiece. I thought ok we are good, so I turned around faced the computer and got back to work. Let's just say that when I finished and went to pick her up, it was obvious that she had a good time!! Oh and some of these pictures are of her falling completely apart when her bow would fall out of her hair. She LOVES to wear a bow even though they look a little silly because she doesn't have any hair. She is turning into quite the girly girl and it is hilarious.
PS...I did check and the purple highlighter was non-toxic =)

Goodbye Buddy

After all of the Halloween commotion; my family got a phone call that my Uncle Buddy, died in a car wreck Thursday night. I was not going to post this, but I know most of my friends that read this blog have all met my Aunt Tina and Uncle Buddy and have even stayed with them at some point when I have gone to visit. We had my bachelorette party at their house and lots of other gatherings with friends. He was an AMAZING man and will be very much missed. Please pray for my aunt during this time.
