Stationary Freak!

Yes, you heard right...I am a stationary freak, always have been and always will be. I love getting new personalized stationary and picking out invitations for parties and showers. I know I am a dork :). Kylie has received a few super cute baby gifts and I want to let all the gift givers know that your thank-you is coming but you know me I had to order new personalized baby stationary for the event! Here's A New One...

So yesterday I get a message from a couple that looked at our house over the weekend. The message I received went a little something like this: "We really liked your house. It is so cute and in our price range, however it is a little too nice for what we are looking for right now..." Excuse me?? Does this seem strange to anyone else besides me?? I mean come on, if I like a house and it is in my price range, I am usually thrilled if it is nicer than I expected. Bizarre, well I hope that couple finds the dumpy home they are looking for, I guess :).

Life in the Fast Lane

Wow time is going by really fast! On Saturday, I will be halfway through the pregnancy. Hard to believe. Lately we have been really stressed with the whole so much to do, so little time thing. Quick update on the house...wait a second, there is no update. Haha. We have been getting lots of traffic and appointments coming through the house, but no movement yet. It has been listed just over a month and all of my Montgomery friends tell me we must be doing something right to at least be attracting this much traffic given such a slow housing environment right now. Who knows...but bottom line we need to MOVE. We need to arrange daycare, prepare a nursery, and get my home office situated. None of these are possible if we still are living in Montgomery! Haha.

Also, you all have seen my previous post on the car situation. We need to get a new vehicle which as I mentioned before is not something you want to do when you are saving to move. BUT in the essence of time, as many things that we can go ahead and take care of the better. So I am planning on setting some weekends aside coming up to seriously look at baby mobiles.

Then there is work...I will be transitioning from working at our office in Montgomery everyday to working only on Mondays and Thursdays in Montgomery and doing the rest from home. Everyone keeps telling me how great this will be, and I agree it will, but I cannot help but be a little nervous. I have never worked from home, and while I am pretty self-disciplined, I know I will miss the social aspect of being in the office. Hopefully I will have time to adjust before Kylie arrives so I do not drive myself crazy.

In other happenings, congrats to Julie and Chris on getting engaged last weekend!!!! So happy for them! Julie was the first person, besides my roommate (Leah) from Demop, that I met and became friends with at Auburn. We ended up pledging the same sorority and have been friends ever since. Chris-you are one lucky guy!!! Anyway congrats you two! And Jules, I will miss you when you move to the Big Apple!

Baby Mobile

Well the time has come...time to start thinking about a more family friendly vehicle. Lee and I have been talking for a while about getting a new vehicle for me. I love my car (Volvo S40), it gets great gas mileage and is so easy to whip around places around town. However...my back seat is not car seat compatible...let me rephrase, it is a Volvo so of course it is compatible and super safe but it is almost impossible to get a car seat in and out of the back seat even the small infant car seats. This is my second Volvo and I really hope to stick with another Volvo. I have not had any maintenance issues (knock on wood) and everybody knows about their safety ratings which are through the roof. SO we venture to Jack Ingram yesterday and browse around at the Volvo station wagons and the Volvo SUV (aka my dream car). I still want to wait till we sell our house before making the new vehicle purchase so we will have a better financial picture, but hey it is never to early to start looking especially when making such a big purchase. I just want to make sure I get something I really like because I will be driving this next vehicle until the wheels fall off (literally!).

Extreme Makeover: Blog Edition

So I think I am finally figuring out this blogging thing. Yay. Amanda-I was determined to have this down pat before you guys leave next month. Anyway, hopefully the blog is much more interesting to look at now.

Easter Bunnies Everywhere!

I absolutely love bunnies for babies! Bunny rabbits are so classic to me. Even though Kylie will not be here until after Easter, I am drooling over all the bunny outfits and toys that are on shelves everywhere right now. I am thinking that the Easter Bunny may have to stop by Gorgas Street this year because I am dying to purchase these must haves:

How your baby's growing:Head to bottom, your baby is approximately 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and she weighs almost 7 ounces. She's busy flexing her arms and legs — movements that you'll likely start noticing more and more. Her blood vessels are visible through her thin skin and her ears are now in position and stand out from her head. Myelin (a protective covering) is beginning to form around her nerves, a process that will continue for a year after she's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and Fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If your baby is a boy, his genitals are noticeable, though he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

The Big Easy

Well I finally made it back from New Orleans this week. Whew! We have tons of jobs going on down there right now. I absolutely love The Big Easy! Too bad this week was all work though and I didn't have any time to see the sights or go to the many fabulous restaurants. In college many of my friends visited New Orleans mainly for the party scene on Bourbon Street, which don't get me wrong is always a blast...but after having the opportunity to visit New Orleans so much this year I have found some other things that top my list of favorites in this city!!! How your baby's growing:Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and he's around 5 inches long. He can move his joints, and his skeleton — until now rubbery cartilage — is starting to harden to bone. His sense of hearing is also developing. The umbilical cord, his lifeline to the placenta, is growing stronger and thicker.

Traveling the State

We had a pretty eventful weekend! After work on Friday, Lee and I headed to Tuscaloosa to visit his parents. We had a great time. On Saturday, Honey (Lee's mom) took me to some really cute baby stores in Tuscaloosa and Northport! We had so much fun looking at all the cute baby clothes. I saw so much stuff I wanted to buy. If you are ever in the Tuscaloosa area, stop by Patiently Waiting in Northport. They had some adorable maternity clothes as well as baby and kids clothes. I am already regretting passing up a few purchases :). And of course the trip was not complete without a meal at Mr.Gs. Yummm....


Sunday morning Lee and I headed to Demopolis to visit my family. I was also lucky enough to eat at Mr. G's again on Sunday at the original location in Demop. Mr.Gs has been one of the many strong cravings I am experiencing (ice cream and Subway are right up there too). We had a great visit with the family and had to leave to soon to come back to Montgomery last night.

Keep praying our house sells so we will be closer to our families!!

Kylie's First Outfits

We had so much fun today looking at all the little girl things!

Boy were we WRONG!

It's a GIRL...Kylie Ann Calame will be here mid-July!!! We went to the Doctor today and found out that the boy I thought I was carrying around is actually a GIRL! We are very excited! Everything looked good at the visit. The cyst they found at my first appointment is still there, but does not appear to be getting larger so it should not cause any problems.

After the appointment, Lee and I ventured to Storkland (by the way if you are pregnant or have kids it is worth the drive to Montgomery to go to Storkland). They have the cutest things!! We have thought for so long that Baby C was a boy, I never really looked at all the cute girl stuff. I mainly focused on anything blue. Lee was pretty cute picking out little girl things! I was amazed at how much say he had when picking out one pink dress from another..pretty funny! Kylie racked up. She got a beautiful daygown, two other precious gowns, a little hat, and an adorable bib. This is going to be one spoiled little girl. I will try to post some pics later of her first outfits.

Our next appointment is March 5th.

Boy or Girl???

Well tomorrow is the big day! We find out the gender tomorrow! Yay! We already have the names picked out and ready to go. Stayed tuned for tomorrow's update...

At 4 1/2 inches long (head to bottom) and 3 1/2 ounces, your baby is about the size of an avocado. In the next three weeks, she'll go through a tremendous growth spurt, doubling her weight and adding inches to her length. The patterning of her scalp has begun, though her hair isn't recognizable yet. Although closed, her eyes are moving (slowly), and she's even started growing toenails. Her fingernails and toenails will continue to grow, so don't be surprised if she needs them trimmed soon after birth.
