Art Show

Last night, Lee and I went to an art show at Kylie's school. It was really cute, each teacher had her room displayed with her class' art. Kylie's teachers did such a great job!!! I can barely color with her without going crazy. It amazes me all of the stuff they manage to accomplish. Below are some pics of her classroom and a few of their art projects.

Shopping

It is really hard to take Kylie shopping. In fact, whenever we go to a store (i.e. grocery store, Target, Wal-Mart) I have to take plenty of treats and distractions. She just does not want to ride int he buggy for a long period of time. Lately, I have been bribing her with suckers. She LOVES suckers. Well last weekend, we went to stay with Lee's mom in Tuscaloosa so I could get some Easter bunny shopping done and pick up a few other things. We had a good time and it was funny. Our first stop was to Target on Friday night. We are browsing the movie/book section and of course Kylie is pointing to every movie. Honey was sweet to give in and bought her a few movies (which we have already watched over and over). Then it was onto the Easter section...bad mistake. Never ever should I take her in the seasonal section in a store. Haha. She of course wanted all of the eggs and candy. I was also not prepared and did not have a sucker to keep her occupied. Anyway we accomplished what we needed to accomplish and went home. The next day we went to some children's boutiques (which she did pretty good in) and then we went to K-Mart. Can I just say how much I love K-Mart?? I wish we had one close by. I was prepared this time and as soon as we went into the store I found a sucker. So she was good the whole time! She did pick out a Dora hat. I wish I could express how much she loves this little hat!! She hates hats but because it is Dora she wants to wear this one. It is so tacky, it is cute!! Haha.
Oh and as you can tell from the pics we are into "beads". She always wants to wear "beads". Nothing like a ghetto hat and some bling!!!

Valentine's Day

We had a wonderful Valentine's Day this year. Lee and I hosted supper club with The Pearce's at their house on Saturday (Feb 13th). I wish I would have taken pictures. We had such a wonderful dinner, complete with silver and fine china! We served beef tenderloin (which was AMAZING), stuffed twice baked sweet potatoes, asparagus, and chocolate mousse for dessert. It was wonderful and thank goodness for my partner, Beth. She did almost all of the cooking and it was delicious and really made for a nice Valentine's dinner for all of our friends.

Then on Sunday, Valentine's Day, we woke up and gave Kylie a Valentine basket with some goodies from us before church. She loves surprises. Lee surprised me with a box of gourmet chocolates, and a gift certificate for a mani/pedi. I was shocked b/c we usually do not do anything for each other on V-day. It was really sweet. Below are some pics of Kylie playing with her Valentine' Day goodies. The pictures are not very good, she was not cooperating and just wanted to play with her new stuff.

Snow Day

Wow- do we get worked up around here about a little snow! Haha. It was predicted that Selma would get anywhere from 3-6 inches, once again the weather guys missed. There are still a few white patches outside, but mainly mud. Kylie did go outside earlier when the flakes were falling pretty good to play. She really enjoyed it.

18 months and counting...

This post is a little late, Kylie turned 18 months on January 7th. We just took her to the doc last week for her 18 month check-up and her last round of shots for a long while. I had to work the day of her appointment, so Lee took her in. I told him to be sure to get her weight, height, percentiles, etc. so I could write them down but he forgot! He said the Doctor said she looked great. He did manage to remember that she weighs 26lbs. I was really curious about her height, b/c she seems really tall to me. She is growing up so fast now. Everyday is a new word, a new dance, a new battle, etc. So funny! She really is such a lovable little girl and loves to sit in new people's laps and have all of their attention.

Lauren, Allen, and Ava came over to our house last Friday night to visit and Kylie was really infatuated with Ava. She kept saying "Baby" and wanting to touch her hair. I said "Be Gentle" at least a dozen times, but she did really good! And Ava is the best baby I have ever been around...I swear she never made a peep and they were at our house for at least 3 hours. She is soooo good and sweet. It was strange holding a baby again that small, I do not even remember Kylie being that tiny. I guess most of Kylie's newborn days were a blur since she spent the 1st 5 months of her life screaming bloody murder, haha! Anyway, we had a wonderful visit and cannot wait for the Oakes' to come back again.

In other news, Kylie is really starting to talk these days. I would say her vocabulary is up to 25 plus words. Her favorite word is "no-no", and we are having to work on this. She is still getting a bottle at night time, I am not bothered by this but Lee is. I still say "Whatever works", but Lee thinks we need to stop. Oh well. She is now drinking her milk before bed and then pointing at her bed when she is ready to go to sleep. We are not rocking her very much at night anymore which is good. Yesterday, we may have had a break through. Ms. Freida said that she noticed Kylie pulling at her diaper and she asked Kylie did she need to pee-pee...so she took off Kylie's diaper and sat her on the toilet and Kylie did her business in the potty. I did not think we were even close to potty training, but Kylie does seem to be showing small signs of interest. Any suggestions on a good training potty?? I guess we will be giving our girl a potty for Valentine's Day. Haha.

Below are some more pics of Kylie modeling her Big Sister dress. My next appointment is Feb. 8th. We are still very early in and I am feeling good so far.
