38 Weeks

Well I was in labor with Kylie at this point in my pregnancy last time! I think it is funny that in the baby update from Baby Center.com posted below, they say the average baby is now 6.8lbs--we were already 6.3 three weeks ago! Ha! I go back to the doc on Tuesday for an ultrasound to check Maggie's weight and if nothing is happening, Dr. Dupre says we will go ahead and schedule an induction for Labor Day week. I am beginning to get very anxious and just hoping for another smooth delivery! Kylie starts school on Sept. 9th which is also that week. Things have been a little crazy around here trying to get her all ready for school and get ready for Baby Sister. Not to mention, I get pretty upset just thinking about the fact that I may not make it to her 1st day of school!!!!!


How your baby's growing:
Your baby has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.

Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)

The Waiting Game

Well I am still here and still very pregnant! I went to the Doc yesterday and it could be tomorrow that Maggie makes her arrival or it could be early September! I am of course hoping that an August birthday is in our future! These late summer pregnancies are for the birds! I cannot believe how much more miserable it is in August :).
Good report yesterday, blood pressure is still really good and she was pretty active yesterday on the monitor. I am 1cm dilated which he said was really good for 36 weeks. Of course I could stay at 1 for the next month, but we are hoping she will progress on her own. I had Kylie 2 weeks early and was not dilated at ALL when I went in. So we shall see. I am still driving back and forth to Montgomery for work and in all honesty...I hope I go into labor while I am at work so I will already be in Montgomery and already have a sitter for Kylie lined up. Just so many unknowns this time due to not being scheduled thus far, last time I was already scheduled so this is new territory.

First Haircut

Well today I did it. I bit the bullet and finally attempted to get Kylie's mullet under control. We are working towards growing out the front and getting it all one length so she can sport some sort of bob in the future, but for now it is still pretty choppy and curly so today we had it shaped up and evened out. It looks so much better and Kylie loved every minute of her salon experience!! You never know how a toddler will do in those kind of situations but she loved it. (I should have known since she brings me fingernail polish ALL the time and demands "paint my toes"). She was such a good girl and was really serious the whole time. It was funny! Thanks Miss Ivy for our new do!

Baby Update

Well I went to the Doctor yesterday, we are going weekly now. In some ways it seems like time is flying by and in other days when I look down and still see a big preggo belly, it seems like time is dragging by so slow! Since she does not move very much, I have been able to get a few extra ultrasounds. She is pretty big which makes it hard to see her clearly but according to the Doc everything is perfect. She cuurently weighs 6lb 3oz and if I make it until my due date (Sept 8th), they predict her to be around 8lb 4oz. We have not discussed induction yet, but my guess is if she does not come on her own, then Dr. Dupre will induce sometime the week before Labor Day weekend. He said that after next week I am full term and can really go into labor anytime. I do not feel as though she has really dropped at this point so I am think we still have a ways to go. She is head down and in position but seems pretty comfy. I go back next Tuesday and we will see if I have dialated or effaced any. I am not thinking their has been any progression at this point, but since Kylie was 2 weeks early the Doc says you never know.

34 Weeks

How your baby's growing:
Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
