Celebrate Good Times

Last night my sweet, sweet friends had a little get together for Jana and I to celebrate our birthdays. Jana's birthday was last Wednesday and mine was yesterday. So the girls threw us a fun little dinner get together at the St. James. We had so much fun!! They had birthday chairs for us to sit in and the best strawberry cake I have ever tasted!! It was such a fun time. I cannot explain in this blog how dear these girls are to me. It is not easy moving to a new town, but especially not easy moving to a small town and these girls have made the transition wonderful!!! I would not trade the friendships we have made over the last year for anything in the world. Here are a few pics:

A big thanks to Lee for babysitting so I could have a girls night out. Honey is going to come play with Kylie on Saturday so Lee and I can go to Montgomery this weekend for my birthday. Asides from getting in a car wreck yesterday (YES on my Bday), the day was wonderful. Post on wreck to come. It is a ridiculous story!

One Year Check Up

Yesterday we went to go see Dr. Hammad for Kylie's one year check-up. The doc has been out of town for a month and since we love our Doc so much, we decided to wait until he got back from vacation before going in. So this 12 month check up happened at almost 13 months. Anyway the stats were:
Weight - 22lbs 11oz
Height - 29 1/2 in
Head Circumference - somewhere in the 40s can't remember...I just asked was it bigger than normal and they said no. Haha.
She got 3 shots were rough, but she didn't feel as bad yesterday afternoon as I would have thought.

I forgot to get the percentiles for everything. They just gave her a good, clean bill of health so I smiled and collected our things and left. It is amazing how lax I am at these appointments now compared to the 1st ones. For example, I used to always write my questions down in the beginning. I had to since she would scream the whole time due to colic, sometimes I would even forget to put on matching flip flops to go to the doc at this stage so writing the questions down was the only way to go. I used to always get them to put her weight and height on a post-it so when I got back to the house, I could transfer the stats into the baby book. Oops...haven't done that in a while. The list goes on and on. Things certainly have changed.

We are loving Kylie's new sense of freedom. She can tell us when she wants something which is wonderful. It is much easier to tell when she doesn't feel good and what the cause is now too. I can not tell you how much communication makes things 100% easier!!

Cruisin

Kylie's new favorite thing is ride-on toys and I am not talking about the Fisher Price kind. She prefers her Daddy's snapper or Big K's (my dad) golf cart. Here are a few pics of Lee and his helper cutting the grass. She squeals with delight as they ride around.

Twins

Kylie has a twin...I better explain that one, huh? Well, Lee's grandmother that lives here in Selma ALWAYS wears sunglasses. Kylie loves Maw-Maw and so Maw-Maw decided to get Kylie her very own pair of sunglasses so she could be like Maw-Maw. Maw-Maw's sunglasses ALWAYS match whatever she is wearing that day, if she has on pink then you can bet she has on pink shades, if she has on white then you can bet she will be sporting some white ones. Maw-Maw picked out some blue shades for Kylie for her birthday and they are a hit. She will wear them all the time and if she takes them off or they fall off, she will bring them back to you and hold her head down for you to put them back on. She is like this with shoes too...what can I say this girl loves some accessories! Anyway here is a funny pic of Kylie and her twin, Maw-Maw. Kylie also had on blue PJs by coincidence to match her shades. I thought these pics were too funny not to share.

The Birthday Bash!

We had Kylie's birthday party Friday night and it was a lot of fun! We had a little watermelon themed bday in our backyard and I think everything turned out great. The food was good, the kids had fun, and there were no major meltdowns. Here are some pics from the party. 12 month post to come!
The invite was designed by Mary V - click on Razzle Dazzle Designs under my favorite links, she is amazing with her custom invitations!

What we have been up to...

I have been MIA on the blog front. This summer is really going by fast and we have been super busy! Last weekend we went to sweet Libby's birthday bash on Saturday at the SCC. She had a fish themed swim party and it was really cute! Kylie had a great time! She mainly walked around ate puffs while the girls dressed her up with some Hawaiian accessories.

After lots of playing outside last weekend, I had to wake up on Monday and drive to Nashville for work. Most of my work fr the past 3 years has been mainly focused in New Orleans and Southern Mississippi, but now we are looking at a couple of acquisitions in Nashville so looks like this will be the first of many trips to the country music capital. My mom rode with me, which was great. So much better than making the 5 hour drive by myself. After I finished my work stuff we toured the city.

We had a good time, but it was a quick trip. I got home late Tuesday night. Lee and Kylie had a good time together while I was out of town.
Now to this weekend and all of the 4th of July celebrations! Kylie went to stay with Honey and Paw-Paw so Lee and I could go to the river with our friends, Morris and Kate. Since I have moved to Selma, I have not been out on the river so I was really looking forward to it and it was a blast! The Alabama river is beautiful, we had such a good time. We left the marina around lunch and did not get the boat out of the water until about 8 pm! Thanks Morris and Kate for a great time. We are already looking forward to another trip! Happy 4th!
