Another Weekend Comes to an End

Is tomorrow Monday already? Ugh. I am not looking forward to the early drive to Montgomery after such a good weekend. Friday night Lee and I attended the annual fundraiser for Sturdivant Hall. Sturdivant Hall is such a beautiful antebellum home and is where Honey and Paw-Paw got married. Every year they have a BBQ fundraiser and it was fun. I met alot of new people and the weather was great. A huge thanks to Paw-Paw for keeping Kylie Friday night so we could go!
Saturday Kylie and I hung out at the house and watched football while Lee worked at the camphouse. Later that evening, Miss Ashley came over to keep Kylie while Lee and I went to a surprise birthday party for Kaley at the St. James. We had a great time. We watched Alabama upset Georgia in the hotel bar and had a good time. Kylie had a great time with Miss Ashley. We are so excited about having Miss Ashley keep Kylie, she will also keep her on Mondays and Wednesdays so I can spend 2 full days in the Montgomery office.
Today we took a road trip to Luverne, Alabama for my great-grandmother's100th birthday party! Grandmama Taylor, my dad's grandmother is 100 years old. Tons of people came to the Methodist Church for the party. I met lots of older and distant relatives that I had never met before which was fun. We also had 5 generations there with my great-grandmother, my grandmother, my dad, me and Kylie. So that was pretty cool. We sent my Grandmama Taylor's info in to Willard Scott on the Today Show but I have not seen it yet. I hope she will get selected!

Tummy Time

We have been placing Kylie on her stomach so she can build some upper body strength. She is so close to rolling over, she kicks with her legs but can't quite push herself over yet. She gets so frustrated and will only stay on her stomach for a short period of time before yelling to be turned over. I dread doing tummy time everyday. Did anyone else's baby hate this activity?

Strollin'

As embarrassing as this is to admit, we just took our first stroll around the neighborhood yesterday. Until now it has either been too hot, too many bugs, or she was just too colicky in the afternoons and I didn't want her scare the neighbors with her screams :). So yesterday we were off, I got almost to the end of the street and I hear a yapping noise and a jingle sound...I turned around and see Dolly flying towards us. She got out of the backyard! YIKES! After a lot of yelling and bribing her with treats I managed to round her up and get her in the house. In the meantime, Porter decides it is his turn to escape so next thing I know I am chasing him through the neighbor's yard. Lee pulls in about that time and helps get Porter. Our stroll got cut a little short but maybe this afternoon we will make it a little further.

Flash Back

I have been cleaning up the pictures on my computer and decided to take a look back at our wedding pictures! We had so much fun at our wedding and hope everyone that was there did too. Whoever says a little rain can ruin your wedding day is lying!

Absolutely Adorable

Honey, Wen-Wen, and I have been doing lots of shopping these days. It is so fun! I didn't buy much ahead of time for Kylie because I was unsure of how big she would be and when she would wear what size. She is almost in a 3 month now, they are still big. But all of her 0-3 month clothes are almost too short in the stride. So we have been on a mission to get Miss Priss some new clothes for fall. I would say that we accomplished our mission by a long shot.

Thanks Honey and Wen-Wen for the precious clothes!!
I also ordered 2 adorable outfits through Betsy from Beaux et Belles for next summer. They are so precious, I can't wait to see them.

Our Weekend in Pictures

Friday night we went with Honey and PawPaw to the country club for dinner to have a late birthday celebration for Lee. It was lots of fun! I was nervous about taking Kylie into the dining room on a Friday night, but we went early and she did GREAT! Never made a peep! Here is a pic of Kylie and her Honey from Friday.

The rest of the weekend pretty much went like this:
Watched a lot of this

Only did a little bit of this

It's Official

I'm back to work! I started back full-time this week. I am still working from our Montgomery office as well as home. The new schedule is: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday I am in Montgomery from 7:30-12 and the rest of the time I work from home. The reason for the new schedule is that Kylie's daycare at the Episcopal church is only open till 1 o'clock. She has now been in daycare for 2 weeks and it is going great! I love it! There are usually 3-4 babies and 2 ladies to care for them. They are so sweet and have been wonderful to us. We are still looking for a sitter for Kylie for a few afternoons a week. We have interviewed some people, but nothing has been a good fit so far. Hopefully we will find some help soon, so that I can be available in Montgomery a little more. The extra time in the office will be needed given the state of the economy right now. I will have to work extra hard in seeking money from lenders to continue doing deals.

This weekend we will be relaxing at home! I am looking forward to it and hopefully I can take some updated pictures of Kylie to post. She is looking more and more like Lee to me, but it is still hard to tell. She does look exactly like his baby pictures when she smiles though. The colic is much better now. Still a few episodes, but we can console her. Have I mentioned how much I love pacifiers????? I hate them at night when they fall out of her mouth, but I do not know what I would do if she wouldn't take one. Lee's mom and I were laughing at how she still moves her mouth like she is sucking when the paci falls out. It is cute, well until she realizes there is nothing there and then it is time for the earplugs! haha.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Weekend Recap

This past weekend Kylie, Dolly, and I hit the road to Demop to spend the weekend with my parents. Lee came later Friday night with Porter. We had such a good time. My mom and I set up her house for Kylie. My old room in Demop is now a somewhat make-shift nursery. My grandmother even came over and brought a swing that my aunt had in her storage room. We can't go anywhere and stay for a long period of time that does not have a swing :). It is our saving grace sometimes. Anyway, my mom helped me with the night shift so I was able to get some rest. That was a huge help, I am sooo glad we moved closer to both of our parents. So I spent most of the weekend resting, working a puzzle, and visiting with all of Kylie's visitors that came by my parents house. Lee had a great weekend too. My dad and uncle had a dove shoot at the farm in Hale County, so Lee went dove hunting most of the day Saturday. After the guys finished up hunting, we went to my aunt and uncles house for some jambalaya and shrimp and watched the Auburn and Alabama games. And yes, we had to load up the swing to take to their house. haha. Sunday I just hung out with mom and the guys went hunting again. Kylie did great and we were all able to relax and get some rest.

Having a Good Time!

Fascinated by her mobile

Still adores bath time!

Loves getting her diaper changed!

Two Month Check-Up

Well it was back to the pediatrician today for Miss Kylie's two month check-up. She had to get 4, yes FOUR, shots. She was really fussy when we got to the doctor's office, but she was a champ getting her shots. Only cried just a bit while getting pricked. Dr. Hammad was shocked that such a colicky baby handled the shots so well. He said she is still severely colic and still has acid reflux. He increased the amount of Prilosec we are giving her and I got the go ahead to get her some Tylenol as needed. Maybe that will help with the stomach pain?? He keeps reassuring me this will go away, but it may take up to four months (that is how long it takes for an infant's gut to mature). I am hoping it does not take that long. She is doing better, smiling more and more and even starting to coo a little. Dr. Hammad also said she will have to stay on the Nutramigen formula until she is 6 months old. I hated to hear that but it is definitely helping! We are still nowhere close to sleeping through the night, I am convinced that she would sleep through the night if her stomach pains did not wake her. I am still hoping for the night that she will surprise us...most of my friends said their babies just went through the night one night and that was it. I guess that is how it works and boy are we ready!
Here are her 2 month stats:
Weight: 11 lbs - 37% percentile
Height: 23.25" - 65% percentile
Head Circumference: 38 cm - 50th percentile

Happy 2 Months Kylie!

Kylie is TWO months today!

Football is Here!

I am so happy football season is getting into full swing, hopefully that means fall weather is not too far behind. We went down to Tuscaloosa this weekend for the football festivities and had so much fun seeing all of our friends! Honey and PawPaw were so sweet to keep Kylie so Lee and I could go spend the day tailgating with friends on the Quad. Hopefully my AU friends will not blast me for my red and white attire, but I can't help it...I have BLAST every time we are in Tuscaloosa. I guess even though I did not go to college at Alabama, it still seems so familiar going to games there b/c I grew up going to ALL Alabama games. Even my tuition checks to Auburn were written on Alabama checks. haha. My family still gives me grief for my college choice, but I wouldn't have changed my AU experience for anything in the world. Lee and I are so blessed to have gone to separate schools so now we can enjoy the best of both worlds during football season. Anyway we had a great time and it was so nice to see so many friends and family this weekend. But for all of you Auburn gals...I am really hoping to come to an Auburn game sometime this year!!

Colic Chronicles: Part Deux

I am sure many of you are so over me talking about this, but I figured I would give an update since I enjoyed reading other blogs while I was pregnant that gave some insight into things. So for those that have not experienced colic here is an update. We are still not over it! I met some of grandmother's friends at the beach and even they were saying they have always heard of the "3 month colic". Why I had never heard of this?? Probably a good thing or I would be well into my 40s having children. haha. I figure by that age I will have more patience :). Anyway, we are approaching her 2 month birthday and while Kylie is not as severely colic as she was a few weeks ago, she still has stomach issues that cause her to be so fussy and a sometimes inconsolable. The Nutramigen, although super expensive, is a gift from above. She is doing so much better on that formula. It is great for infants that have a weak or immature digestive system. Oh and remember a while back my ode to Dr. Browns?? Well forget that. After trying 4 different kinds of bottles...Honey found the winner - Gerber Nuk bottles. Thank you Honey. Kylie loves the Nuk pacis so these bottles work great with her. They also make a medium flow nipple for 0+ months which is great, most companies only make slow flow for that age. Kylie would get so frustrated with the slow flow and she was sucking so hard it was causing her to swallow even more air or sometimes even tire her out before she finished eating. So the medium flow Nuk nipples have been wonderful. Other things that have worked for us has been going ahead and adding 3ml of Mylicon to the bottles. Just as a preventative measure :). My OB even said that helped her out alot. We are still doing Prilosec twice a day which will most likely continue to at least 4-6 months.
Also she now sleeps on her stomach...I know, I know everyone says not do that but our parents did it with us and we are just fine. Plus in my defense, Kylie can lift and turn her head now. I think the pressure on her tummy makes her feel better. She is definitely getting more and more fun as each day she is starting to feel a little better.
