Well it has been a rough week so far and it is only Tuesday! Yikes! Since yesterday was Monday, I had to go to Montgomery for work to attend our usual Monday morning meetings. Well on my way from Selma to Montgomery I manage to hit a duck or a goose, I am not exactly sure which species. I am not sure which it was, but it was not pretty. My car was fine but the duck/goose was not so lucky. So I am adding to my to-do list this week - go get car washed. For those who do not know, I had some traumatizing experiences with geese as a child (blog material for another day), but regardless of what Lee says, I did not hit this animal on purpose :). I will spare you all from a picture of my car.
Today, I had to get up super early and go to Montgomery again to take the 3-hour glucose screening test. This time I had to drink a SUPER sugary drink, twice the amount of sugar that was in the drink I had for the first test. Overall the test was not that bad, but my arms are a little bruised from all of the pricking. I should get the results in a couple of days.
I am hoping the rest of the week will go a little better.
On a happier note: HAPPY 2-7TH BIRTHDAY TO LAUREN AND LINDSEY! Hope you two have a great day and I can't wait to see you this weekend.

28 Week Update from BabyCenter.com
How your baby's growing:By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

Busy Weekend!
Wow, this weekend really flew by. Of course, I am already looking forward to the upcoming weekend (especially since my first baby shower is this weekend in Bham, I am very excited about that!!).
On Friday, we closed on the sale of our old house in Montgomery. Hallelujah! It felt great to get that done. After the closing we had lots of errands to run. We went to Target to get some surprises for our nieces and nephews. Yes, I said nieces and nephews. Amanda and Jerry have officially adopted 2 girls and 2 boys! So Lee and I went shopping for them on Friday and had so much fun looking at all the toys and children's' clothes. After shopping we went to dinner at Red Robin and then headed back to Selma.
On Saturday, Lee woke up at the crack of dawn to go turkey hunting. He is loving the fact that we live so close to the camphouse. He can get up and hunt in the morning before going to work. After Lee finished up turkey hunting, we headed to Wetumpka to Granville Furniture to order some dining room and living room furniture. Lee was a trooper, such a good sport! Our furniture should come in at the end of May and I am very excited about it. Everything we got is very usable, comfortable, and different. The new house is coming together slowly but surely. We painted the guest bath and have two big rooms left to paint (the living room and dining room). Hopefully I can get started on those soon.
Sunday, I headed to Demop to visit the fam. I had a nice visit with my parents and grand-parents. It is going to be great only living 45 minutes away from all of them.

More Nursery Pics
Kylie's Crib (huge thanks to Mary Lou at JavisDavis for the wonderful job on the linens)
Fabulous Glider/Rocker from Storkland in Cocoa & Lots of Closets (what every girl needs!)

This chest belonged to my Granny (my great-grandmother who lives in Linden, AL, when Kylie is born we will have 5 generations!) A huge thanks to my Mom for helping refinish the chest to match the crib!

Built-in Desk - We will use this as a built-in changing table
It's A Girl! Thanks for the cute sign Cousins Matt, Amy, & Lauren!!The Results Are In....
And they are not good! The Doctor's office called this morning and my glucose screening came back a little high, so I will have to do the 3 hour screening test at the lab office next Tuesday. Not fun!!!
My levels came in at 154 and the norm is around 139 she said. So most likely it was caused by what I had for breakfast that morning. I had peanut butter crackers...probably not the best decision. Anyway, pray that the 3 hour test comes back negative and I do not get diagnosed with gestational diabetes!!

27 Week Update from BabyCenter.com
Your baby is really starting to get big. This week your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14.4 inches long with his legs extended. He now sleeps and wakes at regular intervals. He may suck his fingers, and although his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with assistance — if he were born prematurely. Chalk up any rhythmic movement you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on.

Doctor's Visit
This morning I had an appointment with Dr. Miller. It was an eventful appointment. I had to take the glucose screening test today which tests for gestational diabetes. The test wasn't near as bad as I thought. I should get the lab results on Wednesday. Pray that I do not have this! Also since my blood type is negative I had to get a RhoGam shot today, which also was not as bad as I thought. :) Everything is measuring right on schedule and my blood pressure looked good too. Kylie's heartbeat was in the 140s today and sounded strong and healthy. After this appointment, I will start seeing Dr. Miller every 2 weeks. We go back on May 7th for the 4-D ultrasound. I am very excited about that! Hope Kylie will cooperate for the camera!
I am still a little confused on counting weeks vs. months. Today the nurse told me "Wow, you are moving right along. Almost finished with your 7th month!" Excuse me, WHAT???? I thought I was near the end of the 6th month. Evidently I had been counting behind. Yikes! So now I am feeling a little extra pressure to get things done and situated. That means more painting at the house this weekend! :) Obviously the nesting phase has kicked into full swing.
Oh -- for those of you that have asked how the reflux is....it has gotten much better. I had it bad for about a week and here lately I haven't really experienced any. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it does not come back!

Our Work in Progress
Okay....so here are a few pics of the new house. We still have LOTS of work to do and I only took pictures of the rooms that looked semi-decent. The house has tons of windows and 10ft. ceilings throughout. The back porch is wonderful and so is the backyard. The dogs love it. I think we are going to be really happy here. I will try to post some more pics later (keep in mind these rooms are all still a work in progress)!

We've Moved!
It is official! We have finally made the move to Selma. The movers should be bringing all of our stuff to the new house today. We have worked our tails off trying to paint as much as possible before all of the furniture and boxes arrive. I wish I would've taken some "before" pictures. I will try to post some pics once we get thing situated, which may take a while. We have lots of painting, cleaning and unpacking to do. We managed to get the den, kitchen, breakfast room, and our bedroom painted. Mom and I will tackle the nursery this weekend and the master bathroom.
I should be able to start working from home next week. I will be commuting to Montgomery on Mondays and Thursdays for meetings and the rest from home.

26 Week Update from BabyCenter.com
Your baby now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber), from head to heel. Her weight will more than triple between now and birth as she rapidly puts on baby fat. She'll need that fat to help adjust to colder temperatures outside the womb and as a source of energy and calories in the first days of life. It's not uncommon for newborns, especially those who are breastfed , to lose weight (sometimes as much as 10 percent of their birth weight) in the first week after birth.

Trip to the Zoo!
Well since our moving has been delayed until this coming weekend and everything we own is in boxes (and, did I mention we have no cable!), we had to come up with something to do this past weekend. We decided to go to the Montgomery Zoo. Before we moved from Birmingham to Montgomery, we went to the Bham Zoo and had a great time. So it was only appropriate to go to the Montgomery Zoo before we move. Lee and I were very impressed. The Birmingham Zoo is much prettier, but I must say the animals at the Montgomery Zoo were much, much better. The animals were very active and we could get pretty close to them. Our favorites were the jaguar (he was very scary) and the elephants. One of the elephants had just given birth at the zoo this fall and the calf was very cute. Here are some pics of our favs (forgive the picture quality, I had to use my cell phone):

99 and Counting...
I clicked on the blog this morning and realized that the pregnancy ticker now shows less than 100 days to go before Kylie Ann Calame's arrival!! Time is flying by and we of course have a thousand/million things to do! It is hard to believe that at the end of this month, I will be in the third trimester. Lee can now feel Kylie kick when he puts his hand on my stomach which is really fun. Her kicks and movements are much stronger now and I love to feel her moving around. We are counting down to the 4-D ultrasound which will happen around the first of May. We also begin birth classes May 5th. So we have a lot of things coming up.
Here is my condensed list of things to do before baby's arrival:
1. Move into new house - in progress
2. Set up home office - in progress
3. Buy new car - ugh!
4. Get nursery ready - have not even started, but at least we have a crib!
5. GO TO THE BEACH BEFORE BABY! (as you can see this one is really important to me :))

25 Week Update from BabyCenter.com
Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. His weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but he's beginning to exchange his long, lean look for a more rounded one. As your baby gains weight, his wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and he'll start to look more like a mini newborn. His hair is probably recognizable now in color and texture, although both may change after he's born.

What is This? It Hurts.
Okay so I have had to do some Internet research today (no, not on why the ordering things are so close to each other at Sonic, haha), but on acid reflux??!? I have been feeling a burning sensation in my throat similar to the feeling you have if you take a pill without water and feel like the pill never went down quite right. Well I have been fighting that feeling off and on all weekend and now today at work. Not fun, it is very uncomfortable.
I have never really experienced acid reflux or heartburn before, but they say it is common with pregnancy. I read that two of the main foods that can cause it are chocolate (oops) and anything tomato-y (tomato sauce, ketchup, etc). These two things have been two of my favorites. Ugh. I am also supposed to sleep in a wedge position (head elevated up high) to reduce the reflux.
Lee heard from a girl at the bank that milk helps alleviate reflux. I have tried this and it works for a minute or two but that's about it. Does anyone else have any pointers on getting rid of this?

Sonic Wins!
Well this weekend was pretty eventful...packing, buying all the paint for the new house, and so on and so on. The weekend became even more eventful when I decided to venture to Sonic on Saturday night for a delicious Sonic Butterfinger Blast. It all started when Lee left for Birmingham to attend a wedding of an old friend. In an effort to save gas, Lee took my car as opposed to his truck (our gas bill is enormous right now with him making the Montgomery to Selma commute). So when I decided to take my trip to Sonic, I was a little taken back when I realized I would have to take the truck. I hardly ever drive his truck. But I figured, hey no big deal I can do this - no problem. My first clue that this trip was doomed should have been when I went to order my Sonic Blast, and the girl taking my order said "Ma'am our ice cream machine is down". Don't you just hate it when that happens???? Ugh. Well I start thinking to myself, probably a good thing, I didn't need to eat that anyway and I begin to back the truck out. As everyone knows the little ordering spaces at Sonic are not very big...well I realized just how small they really are. I begin to back out and am trying to lift my 6 month pregnant self up to see how close I am to the ordering/menu post on the right side, while doing so I hear this loud screech/banging on the left side! YIKES!!! I have just nailed the ordering/menu post at Sonic!!!!!!!! And in Lee's truck!!!!! (Also, let me not leave out the part that Sonic is packed with customers at this time) A really nice guy got out of his vehicle and came to see if I was alright. I was fine but freaking out about Lee's vehicle and how was I going to explain myself. The Sonic equipment had zero damage so I did not have to file a police report since there was no third party involved. I immediately look to Lee's truck and pick the headlight up off the ground. At this point I am crying and dreading telling Lee that I had run into the ordering thing at Sonic! I manage to get myself home and try calling Lee. No answer, he is still at the reception. I call my mother-in-law and explained what I had done. She calms me down and we finally get in touch with Lee. Lee was glad that me nor Kylie was hurt in anyway, but it was one of my most shameful moments to show him what I had done to his truck (which is pretty new). He was very nice and understanding. As we are searching for a new vehicle, I have now ruled out any mention of a Tahoe or Suburban!!

24 Week Doctor's Visit
This morning I had an appointment with Dr. Miller. Kylie's heart rate was in the 140s, a little lower than the previous visits. Everything looks good and we are measuring right on track. I go back in 3 weeks for the glucose screening test and after that appointment, I will see Dr. Miller every two weeks. Time is going by so fast!
Also just a little FYI, (for those like me that did not know this) since we are moving next weekend and will be doing lots of painting I asked Dr. Miller about being exposed to paint fumes. I have heard several different things about this, some people have said painting is a no-no and others have said it is perfectly okay to be around. Per Dr. Miller... as long as you are around latex paint it is fine. Women who are pregnant should not be around oil-based paint (which is normally used for trim work and not walls). So...I should be good to go for the painting party next weekend! :)

24 Week Update from BabyCenter.com
How your baby's growing:Your baby's growing steadily, gaining about a quarter of a pound since last week, when she was just over a pound. Since she's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), that makes a pretty lean figure, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon put on more baby fat. Your baby's skin is thin, translucent, and wrinkled, her brain is growing rapidly, and her taste buds are developing. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" and cells that produce surfactant, a substance **that helps the air sacs inflate easily.
