I've Been Tagged!

Thanks Morgan for tagging me you know I love these. Morgan tagged me to go to my 6th folder and publish my 6th picture. Well here it goes and b/c it is sooo beautiful I am posting the 7th picture too which is another view...


Above are pictures 6 and 7 from my 6th picture folder on my computer. And they are of our house. Let me rephrase, they are pics of our house before we bought it and before we PAINTED. These are pictures of what was going to be the nursery. We repainted (and PRIMED and PRIMED) and replaced the flooring. Could you imagine if she slept in something that magenta???? She would be destined to be a crazy for sure. Haha. Trust me, my camera did not even come close touching how hot pink this room was before we moved in. Too funny.
So that being shown, I now am posting the after so that you can see that my child does not sleep in a SCARY magenta room.


And yes, that is Kylie Bug napping in her bed. I should be cleaning while she naps but of course, I am blogging!

Hopping To It

Okay so as you can see from my new background, I am officially counting down to Easter. I love the Easter Season...amazing Church services, beautiful weather, Easter egg dying, and so on and so on. My Mom has always made a big deal out of Easter. Every year, I always got a new church dress, shoes, stockings, the whole nine yards. And every year our entire family would go to Church together to celebrate. This year Lee and I have a new wonderful Church home and we have Kylie which always means a bigger holiday celebration. We already have a few egg hunts on the calendar and I am super excited. Although Kylie is too young to hunt for the Easter eggs, it is a great time to wear those precious smocked Easter clothes and get lots of cute photo ops. Haha. So around Valentine's Day, I started the hunt for THE Easter egg basket. Let me tell you, they are not that easy to find. I had to resort to Ol' Faithful (i.e. PotteryBarn Kids). I know everyone loves PBK, and I do too..but I wanted something a little different. Well no luck (actually I did find one cute option but it was $$$$ pricey), so off went my order to PBK. The basket came in a few weeks ago and it is cute but I bet I will see 100 of these suckers. Haha.

Play Time

This weekend we did lots of playing! We went to Tuscaloosa on Friday night to see Honey and then Saturday made a trip over to Bham to see the cousins and make a Babies R' Us run. We had fun but were exhausted when we came back to Selma on Saturday night.

Playing today at home...we did not get out of our pajamas today :) Oh- and as you can see from the picture below, we have now figured out how to crawl to our toy basket and pull up to our knees. Lee and I lowered her crib this afternoon. Baby proofing here we come!

Kylie's Special Day

Kylie was baptized on Sunday at our church here in Selma. It was such a wonderful and special day for us. Kylie was so cute during the service. Never cried or made a peep, just kicked her legs and bounced around with excitement. She loved seeing the congregation, the choir, and listening to the organ. We had lots of family and friends drive to Selma to celebrate the occasion and afterwards we had lunch for everyone at the country club. Honey helped me plan and get everything ready which was a huge help. Thanks Honey!

The Fabulous Follies

Sorry I am just now posting this! Follies were great this year. We had so much fun. Friday night's show was okay and so was the Saturday matinee, but Saturday night was a BLAST. The crowd on Saturday night was really fun. For example, on Saturday night a lady Lee works with that was in the crowd decided to come on stage and put a dollar in Lee's Spice Girl dress. haha. We also decided that during the guys' Splish Splash skit it would be fun to write messages on their backs during the show since they only wore a bath towel and no shirt. Poor Lee -- he ended up with the words "Wax Me" written on his back. He was obviously a really good sport! All in all it was a great experience and I am looking forward to participating 3 years from now (the League only puts on Follies once every three years).

One way the League makes money in association with Follies is by selling stage ads. Well Budweiser purchased a stage ad and I think they got their monies worth when these two came on stage to do the "Top Ten Reasons Selma Loves Budweiser" - HILARIOUS

Milburn seemed to enjoy Selma until Saturday night at the end of the show when one of the Budweiser "girls" decided to come out and sing "I Like My Women a Little on the Trashy Side". He did not think that was funny at all, haha.

Speedy Recovery

Well Kylie bug is doing great. The surgery and anesthesia process went smoothly with no complications. The anesthesiologist did not even end up giving her an IV so I was thrilled about that. We are tired from leaving Selma at 3 am this morning, but made it there and back quickly. Kylie slept the whole way there and back, that was a blessing. She is taking a nap now but has already been playing and ate a good lunch. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Here are some pics from this morning.

7 months and growing!

Kylie turned 7 months yesterday. She is getting to big! Almost 19lbs!!!! She is loving all food with the exception of peas. I have been giving her a biter biscuit after her supper and she loves those. We have also begun using a sippy cup a little. She is getting bigger and bigger every week. She is also getting VERY mobile! Yikes! I have got find one of those fireplace safety things...does anyone know what I am talking about or where to get one? She is starting to crawl and is getting very good at sitting up. Ms. Julia (she keeps her at nursery) told me that Kylie went from craling on the floor to sitting up by herself last week. Kylie still has not done this trick for Lee and I though. She LOVES music, anything that lights up, and her Bunnies By the Bay blankie. She is so cute and sweet and will sometimes even act a little shy. Here are a few pics.

On another note: please pray for Kylie tomorrow as she gets tubes. I know it is a routine procedure but I am very nervous. I will do an update tomorrow when we get home if possible. Lee and I will be driving to Bham at 3 am...very early!

Also, for you crazy follies fans - the shows this weekend went great. We had sooo much fun. I have lots of funny pics so post on that to come.

Monday's Itinerary

Okay so I just talked to the nurse at Children's and the ENT nurse. We have to be at the hospital in downtown Bham by 5:45 am on Monday. That means we will have to leave Selma around 3:15 am!! YIKES. The actual surgery will happen around 7:30 am. If all goes well with the anesthesia, we will be home pretty quickly that same day. I did get some more details yesterday on this type of anesthesia versus the normal anesthesia procedure done for tubes. Instead of getting a normal mask, Kylie will have to get an IV and be on some extra monitors. I am NOT excited about this. The last time she had to get an IV, it left her pretty bruised and banged up. BUT I have heard amazing things about Children's Hospital so I know she will be in excellent care. I found out that given the medical history, they have to watch and make sure she does not develop some sort of hypothermia in association with the anesthesia. Highly unlikely, but just in case we need to go this route. Hope this goes well and we can get some sleep!

Ear Update Part II

We made the journey to Birmingham yesterday to Children's South to see the Pediatric ENT. He was very nice. The infections in both ears have cleared, but the right ear still shows signs of fluid so we will be going on Monday to get tubes. He said we could wait, but given her age she would most likely battle ear infections off and on again if we do not go ahead and get tubes. Should be pretty routine, but Kylie will have to go a specialized form of anethesia. Due to the fact that muscular dystrophy runs so strongly in my family, the Doc said the anethesialogist will need to take some extra precautions. We all fill out medical histories all the time and honestly I have never had to worry about anything, but since she is so little they highly recommend the specialized treatment. So instead of getting the tubes at the outpatient center at Children's South, we will have to take Kylie to the main Children's Hospital in downtown Bham for the procedure. The ENT is supposed to call tomorrow and let us know what time to be there. We should still be in and out in a day.

The Director, The Cast, and THE WARDROBE

So Kinsey gave me a great idea for a post when she inquired about the wardrobe for the follies. The wardrobe, after all, is what makes this whole production HILARIOUS. If you do not have a ticket, I realize that this post will probably make you want to purchase one asap. I mean it is not everyday that you will get to see my husband with boobs :). haha. So here is the rundown:
Outfit #1: Prison outfit. This is for a dance to the song "When You're Good to Mama". This number is hilarious and I am glad there are about 20 girls sharing the stage with me for this. It is sort of a scandalous song. haha. This song is from Chicago.

Outfit #2: Charleston Dress. This is a couples number to the song "Anything Goes". This one is not so bad, although the dress in my size looks like a trash bag with some bright pink highlights. Still much better than what is to come.

Outfit #3: The WORST. This is for "Stepping Out With My Baby", a funny couples kick-line number. There are not words to describe this costume. Although the words, horrendous, wretched, and really really ugly come to mind. We died laughing last night when we all tried this 3 piece number on. I am just thankful the photo I am using below does not have me actually in this outfit. I am telling you it is much much worse on this body.

Outfit #4: Think about the movie "A League of Their Own". This number involves base ball bats and is to a song called "Heart". This one is my favorite. Please note we will be donning bloomers under our skirts!

Outfit #5: Okay, so I was supposed to be in 4 numbers but got put in another one. This number is just 4 of us girls dancing with one of our friends while he sings "Boogie Shoes". Three things are really bad about this: 1) there are not many people to share the stage with, 2) I have to do my own freestyle dance moves (I have none), and 3) the dress I will be wearing will probably blind one or two audience members.
All this being said, it could be worse...I could be Lee. He gets to wear these with nothing else while performing to the song "Splish Splash"

This whole experience has been so much fun! We have had a blast laughing with and at each other. I must say if you are not able to come you really are missing out! I am not a dancer by any means and have never in my life been on to sign up for anything that will require some end of the year recital, but this comedy/variety show stuff is so much fun. Can't believe we will actually be on stage and in these costumes this weekend! Yikes!
Anyway gotta run and go pick up Lee's wig for his Spice Girls number from the post office. Thanks Mary Grace for sending it to us!
