Eleven Months

We are less than a month shy of Kylie's first Bday!! Crazy! This time last year I was so uncomfortable; battling heartburn, swollen ankles, and not to mention the Alabama heat! Now my days consist of running after a soon to be toddler. My how things can change in a year!
Kylie is doing great other than teething. She is teething really bad and that has been tough. She still only has her bottom 2 teeth and that is it. I was late getting in my teeth so I guess she is following in my footsteps. Lee was probably already eating hamburgers by the time he was 11 months old...haha! Kylie's top gums look like little marshmallows, they are so swollen. Hopefully her 2 front teeth will cut through soon. She is doing great drinking from a cup as long as it has handles on it, but she in no way is hooked on the bottle. However, I depend on the nighttime bottle to help get her to sleep so when we have to ditch that we will have a few meltdowns I am sure.
She is now WALKING. Started taking steps a few weeks ago and now although she is still not fully balanced she prefers to try to stand up and walk towards something than crawl for it. I expect she will be fully mobile in the next two weeks. While we were in Savannah, Honey and Paw-Paw did some child-proofing for us (which was a huge help), but I am learning that nothing is really "child proof". Her latest fascinations are the dog food/bowl and of course, the TOILET. I am going to have to get one of those toilet safety latch things...Lee is going to be thrilled about that :).
As Honey says, we are in the "monkey see, monkey do" phase. It is hilarious. If we sneeze, then Kylie will sneeze. If we cough, Kylie will cough and so on and so on. She is still fascinated by music. She recognizes songs and know which buttons to push to play certain sounds on her toys and then she will start clapping and bouncing up and down. She is always giggling and absolutely loves Ms. Frieda (our sitter).
Everyday she is learning something new and it is amazing to watch. I still can't believe I am already in the process of planning a 1st Bday party!! Oh and don't let me forget only a MONTH away from NOT HAVING TO BUY FORMULA!!!!!!!! :) Can you tell I am excited about that one? Any who- here are some 11 month pictures and just a few pics of Kylie playing in her baby pool.

Savannah Trip

We had a great Memorial Day weekend. Lee and I went to Savannah, Georgia for a mini vacation with 4 other couples. We had a great time! We left on Thursday night and got back to Selma around 4:30 on Monday. MomaBrown (my grandmother) kept Kylie on Thursday night and Honey and Paw-Paw came over on Friday and kept her the rest of the weekend. A big thanks to all the grandparents for helping over the weekend!
Anyway back to our trip...it was so much fun! We arrived in Savannah about 1:30am on Thursday night and just booked a random room for the evening. Friday morning we got up and moving and headed over to our hotel to park the cars and such and then hit the town! First stop was River Street, which is kind of like a mini-Bourbon street but much more G-rated. There were lots of pubs, restaurants, shops, an outdoor flea market, and even live music. We stayed on River Street all day until it was time to get ready for dinner. We had reservations at Elizabeth on 37th for a nice dinner. It was great and afterwards we headed to City Market to The Bar Bar which was lots of fun! It is a big bar with a dance club. There were a few break dancers in there and of course one of our guys gave break dancing a whirl!
On Saturday, we woke up and recovered from The Bar Bar and then hit the town. We went back to City Market for lunch at Vinnie Van Go Go's, which was awesome. It is a dive that has been voted the best pizza in Savannah and I would agree. The pizza was great! After lunch, we explored City Market a little more and then headed back to the hotel for a 2 o'clock bus tour of Savannah. I did not know hardly anything about Savannah until we took the tour. Come to find out, it is the 2nd most haunted city in the United States, the place where Forrest Gump was waiting to catch his bus to see Jenny, a huge port city, and so on and so on. It was very interesting. Saturday night, we went on a Riverboat Cruise that was fun. It was a booze cruise with a DJ on board. We had a blast. On Sunday, we had reservations for brunch at Belford's. It was our friend's, Kathleen, birthday and her mom had called Belford's and surprised us all with 2 bottles of champagne to celebrate. How sweet was that? We had a room to ourselves at the restaurant. After brunch, we all walked to down to Paula Deen's store to pick up some souvenirs and do some more sightseeing. The rest of the afternoon we just walked around and then on Sunday night we went on a Haunted Pub Crawl that was a blast. We walked from pub to pub while our guide, Anna, pointed at different haunted houses and so on. It was a lot of fun! After we finished up the pub crawl, we went to Six Pence Pub for a bite to eat (Six Pence is the bar where Julia Robert's caught Dennis Quaid having an affair in the movie Something to Talk About). After a quick bit to eat, we headed to McDonough's for some karoke. McDonough's is rated Savannah's best karoke bar. It was a blast, Lee gave an awesome performance of AC/DCs Dirty Deeds. It was a great way to end the trip. Monday we woke up and enjoyed the hotel's breakfast before hitting the road. Speaking of the hotel, we stayed at the East Bay Inn and it was FANTASTIC. I would highly recommend this to anyone planning to go to Savannah. The staff was great and the beds were to die for. We all hated to leave!

Beach Bums

The 1st beach trip of the summer was a great one! We had so much fun and Kylie was a blast. She slept the entire way down and on the way back...that is always a plus! Friday evening after arriving and unloading, my mom and grandmother went to visit the rest of our family that were staying in West Beach for my cousin's wedding. While they were gone, I took my grandfather for supper to Tequila Bay, the local Mexican restaurant in Ft. Morgan. Saturday we spent the day mostly playing with Kylie in her pool. The sun was a little bright for her, but she loved the pool! After playing all morning, we headed for lunch in Gulf Shores at the Original Oyster House and then came back for more pool time before we had to get ready for the wedding. The wedding was beautiful!! I have never been to a beach wedding, and now I know why so many people go that route. It was gorgeous! My cousin, Tori, looked so pretty and we all had a good time! On Sunday, we enjoyed more fun in the sun and a wonderful early supper from Tacky Jacks. Afterwards, Sunday evening the photographer from Fairhope came over to take some pictures of Kylie and some family pics of us. It was the BEST Mother's Day gift EVER. I cannot wait to see how they turned out. Kylie did great and we all really had fun together taking the pictures.

Week of Celebrating

Wow- we have had a busy week and have an even busier weekend planned! Lee and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary on Wednesday. We didn't do very much, cooked out tonight and will be celebrating this weekend on the beach! I am sooo excited- we are leaving tomorrow to go to the beach for a long weekend. I cannot wait to see how Kylie is going to handle all of the fun in the sun. My Mom and grandparents are all going down with us because my cousin is getting married in Gulf Shores on Saturday. We are also all going to celebrate Mother's Day down there together. For my Mother's Day gift, Lee booked a photographer to come take some pictures of Kylie and us on the beach. The photographers are awesome and I cannot wait to see how the photos will come out.
We had another celebration today as Kylie turned 10 months old!!!! Now that she is sleeping through the night (FINALLY) time is starting to really go by fast. She is doing great and is such a fun little girl. She is extremely obsessed with dogs and dirt. She loves being outside and is very outgoing.

I am very excited and wish I had more time to post...but packing is taking much longer than planned. I cannot believe how much stuff we have to take when we travel with Kylie. I swear I need a small U-Haul for all of our stuff. Thank goodness most of the beach stuff I will just be able to leave at the beach house and will not have to re-pack for the next trip.

Anyway, I will leave you with some 10 month photos until we return from the beach. Once we are back I am sure it will be picture overload!

Baby Mama

For Christmas last year, Olivia and Vica picked out this adorable baby stroller to give Kylie. Since Kylie was so little, I put it away in the closet and decided we would put it together when she was older. Well the time has come. Lee put the stroller together last night and it was a BIG hit. The finished product:

Kylie stood watching Lee put it together the whole time. Once he was finished she was ready to go. She was so excited that I could not get a picture of her without her mouth open because she was squealing and laughing as she pushed it.

Occasionally she would stop to check on the baby:

Also making a few stops to wave at the dogs outside:

And of course making a few stops to throw baby completely out of the stroller:
