Happy Birthday Daddy!

Thought I would give a shout out to my wonderful father whose birthday is on Sunday!

10 Things I love about my Dad:

1. Without him there would be no me, hehe!

2. He is hands down the best cook I know. Best fried fish in Alabama. Period.

3. He is a super hard worker. He cannot sit still, always working on something. He takes cares of my grandparent's homes' and my uncle's farm and loves doing it.

4. He is the king of organization. I wish I had a picture, but all of his stuff has his name written on it in Sharpie, hehe. Everything he owns has "Kyle Brown" written on it so that it will not get lost.

5. He is an animal lover! My dad may be a big fisherman and hunter, but he is so sensitive when it comes to his dogs. He and my mom have 4 weenie dogs and my dad surprised me with Dolly on my birthday two years ago.

6. He always calls to check on me. I know this may not seem like much for a dad and all dads call their daughters, but it seems like my dad always calls at just the right times. I really enjoy our conversations and love to chat it up with him!

7. He makes holidays special! My dad works shift-work so we have had to celebrate holidays and birthdays during some very odd times of the day. I can remember my parents waking me up sooo early on Christmas morning so I could see everything Santa brought before my dad left for work at 6am. On Valentine's Day, he would always have cupcakes and a card waiting for me for breakfast.

8. Always encouraging...he has always encouraged me to do my best and been there for me. Whether it was in school, sports, or work he has always supported me and encouraged me to work hard.

9. He is fun! He is such fun guy to hang out with!! Lee loves hanging out with him and so do Lee's friends. Whether it is hunting, fishing, going to the beach, or cooking out the guys always have fun with him.

10. He is ready to be a Grand-Dad! He was so excited when we told him we were pregnant and even more excited when he learned Baby C's name would be Kylie (his name is Kyle). I cannot wait for Kylie to meet my dad (we are still working on what she will call him). I know she will love him as much as I do!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!!

Weekend Warriors!!!

Well Lee said my last post was not appropriate for the blog. haha. We have a super busy weekend ahead. Time to get started on cleaning everything out of the old house and packing everything for the new one. Fun, fun. I think I mentioned that we met with the movers the other day and how great they seemed to be. Wellll...I am rethinking my high compliments of them. They were supposed to bring the boxes and packing supplies yesterday and were no shows. Hopefully our driveway will be full of boxes when I go home for lunch.

Tomorrow mom is helping me pick out paint colors for the rooms in the new house. If anyone has any favorites, please let me know so we can check them out! I always feel so overwhelmed when choosing colors, there are so many to choose from and unless a friend has used the color before you usually have no clue what the color will look like once a whole room is painted! Please give me some suggestions!

Bravado: Not so Bravo!

I decided that today I would share one of my pet peeves with everyone. Anyone who has ever been pregnant or has just had one of those fat-days, I am sure can understand where I am coming from. Many of my friends that have had children have told me about several great websites for purchasing maternity clothes. Well yesterday I was browsing around one of my favs, the Nordstrom website, looking at the Spring/Summer maternity clothes and what do I stumble upon??? The so-called Bravado Maternity thong. See pic below:
Is it just me or does this women look anything BUT prego? I have noticed so many sites doing this - advertising what they feel is a great maternity product and then putting it on a model that should clearly not be a poster child for all things maternity.

Picture Perfect

I have been on the search for a while to also find some pictures for the nursery. I have seen some really cute ones but am having a hard time deciding on which ones I like the best and which ones match the best. Here are a few of my favorites...I found all of these at Distinctive Nurseries (one of my new favorite sites). This canvas can be personalized! How cute!

I also think a pair of these monkeys are adorable! (these may be my fav...and looks like they would match perfectly! wish list :))

Beginnings of a Nursery: Part II

We are so excited (ok, so I am probably a little more excited than Lee, but he is pretending and going with me and mom to order everything :)), this weekend we can finally pick out and order the baby furniture since we now know where we will be living and when we are moving. Below is everything we have picked out:

The Crib (it will actually be in antique white):Chair and ottoman for the nursery (will actually be in a beautiful mocha color to match the trim on the bedding):
The bedding (I know I have posted on this bedding a thousand times, but it really turned out great):

The current plan is to have everything at our house in Montgomery ready for the movers to pick up and take to Selma on Saturday, April 12th. The chair and ottoman will most likely take 6 weeks to come in so we will have to drive to Montgomery later and pick that up in Lee's truck from Storkland. Ms. Brenda is making really cute valances to match the bedding (I wish I had her talent!!). My mom (who Kylie will most likely call Wen-Wen...her name is Wendy) is refinishing a set of chest-of-drawers that belonged to my great-grandmother to match the finish of the crib. Hopefully everything will look as cute as I have it pictured in my head. It is definitely nice and so much fun to be finally thinking of all the things we get to do for Kylie now that we are not as focused on buying/selling a house.

Ps...Everyone is welcome to join the all-night painting party at the new house on April 11th!!! haha!

23 Week Update from BabyCenter.com

Your baby is more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango). He may be able to feel your movements now, so put on some tunes and dance around the house. No matter what race your baby is, he looks red now due to blood vessels showing through his transparent skin. His true skin tone will develop over the course of his first year. Blood vessels in your baby's lungs are developing to prepare him for breathing, but complete lung development will take many more months. The lungs are the last organ to fully develop.
