Maggie's Baby Shower

First- let me start this post off by saying that we sure do have some AWESOME friends. Last weekend, our friends gave us a joint baby shower with our other friends, the Atchisons. Tommy and Kaley are expecting Baby Kate on August 11th and we are right behind in September with Maggie. It was a fun couples shower and everything was fabulous. The them was bubbles and bites, so there was a lot of champagne flowing and incredible sweet treats. Our friend, Rick, played the guitar and we all had a really good time. Beth's house was of course decorated beautifully and she went over and beyond to make everything special for us! Here are some pictures:

Roomies

Well I am 95% complete with the girls' rooms. We have a jack and jill bathroom that they will share and their rooms adjoin. Later, I am hoping they can both share Kylie's room so that we can free up another bedroom and I can get a real office set up. But in the meantime, here are their rooms:

Kylie's Room
Kylie got new twin beds and bedding. I used all of her other furniture from her nursery. I got the bedding from Potterybarn Kids (which surprised me, I am normally not a PBK fan), but I loved all of the colors in the bedding. The paint color is Harbor Fog by Benjamin Moore. And let me just say that I LOVE it. It is really refreshing and a nice change from pink. Her valances were made by Javis Davis. They typically make crib bedding and toddler bedding but have added curtain valances to their services as well. The colors of her room were pretty much centered around a painting that I found and loved of a lemonade stand. Sarah (one of the most creative people I know), my coworker, was able to paint a lemonade stand which is precious and really brings everything together. Thanks, Sarah--we LOVE it!!! Honey found a prefect rug at Target to match and we are all set. I wanted her room to be very playful and a place where they can watch movies, play with toys, etc. We do not have a playroom so this room is where 90% of their junk will find its home (the other 10% is still scattered in my den :(). All in all I think it turned out cute and is very playful. (We still have some finishing touches to do in Kylie's room...one picture in there is from her nursery and is not staying so still a few things to wrap up)

Maggie's Nursery
Maggie's nursery is not too much different than Kylie's nursery. I am basically re-using everything, but I added a few things that have punched it up a little. I wanted her to have some new things of her own!! The crib bedding is from Javis Davis, it is the same bedding that Kylie used, same with the valances. The paint color is also the same... it is called Noble Blush and I can not remember who makes the paint, but it is the prettiest, most delicate shade of pink I have ever seen. I am still not sick of it, which says a lot of pink paint :). Sarah, the oh-so creative genius mentioned above did the ballerina painting-- I know can we say talented??? She is looking into doing some commissioned work, so please email me if interested and I will put you in touch with her. She is FAB! And she does some really cool canvases for the home, not just children's stuff. We got an old, old piece of furniture from my great-grandmother's house in Luverne, AL and painted it to match the other pieces. It turned out beautiful-- I removed the old hardware and put glass hardware on the piece. I love the glass hardware--Kylie's chest is from my other Granny and hers has glass hardware as well. So pretty! Maggie's letters were actually from her baby shower this past weekend (post on that to come). They were painted orange and pink to match the theme of the shower. Over the weekend I painted them cream and added some bright pink tulle and voila! Honey also found her rug at Target and I love it!!!! I actually think I want another one to double them up. The bright pink has really made the room and has added a little color that it did not have before. I am ordering a monogram to go above the crib and a mirror to go above her chest and after that Maggie's nursery will be complete!

Kylie's 2nd Birthday Bash!

We celebrated Kylie's birthday with a Luau party at the SCC on July 10th. Her friend from school, John Braxton, turned two a day after her so we decided to do a joint birthday party and it was so fun!! These 2 sure have fun together and having their party together was a blast. And we just love Mary Christie and John Brian, John Braxton's parents, so it was really fun to plan with them. Below are some of the pics from their special day, everything turned out pretty cute!!

Counting Down

32 Weeks...here is an update from Baby Center.com

By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.

Hard to believe we have only 5-8 weeks left. I have another Doctor's appointment on Wednesday. I delivered Kylie at 38 weeks and had a really quick labor so most likely I will be induced (if at all) early this time too depending on Maggie's weight. I am so anxious this time around, last time I had no clue what was going on so I just went with the flow. This time I am constantly wondering if I will be induced or just go into labor on my own. I hate the unknown and it is killing me this time!

We have slowly been getting ready for Miss Maggie's arrival. We shampoo'd (not sure if that is a word) the carpet in the nursery and washed all of the bedding. It is now clean and fresh. Sarah did a painting for the nursery and it is AMAZING. Pictures to come when I can get a few other things finished, I am re-using all of Kylie's things but have gotten a few new things too.

In other happenings, our sweet friends in Selma are throwing us a couples shower on Friday night. We are having a joint shower with our friends, Kaley and Tommy. They are scheduled to have Miss Kate on August 11th. Should be really fun!!

I am hoping to get blog posts updated. Still have lots to post from Kylie's 2nd birthday. All in all, we are doing great just been busy with birthday parties and golf tournaments. Hopefully I can catch up on all of my posts this week!

Miss Maggie

So everyone says she looks like big sis. Here are a few photos of Kylie a few hours old.
I still can't really tell. We can not wait to meet sissy. She was curled up in a ball and it took a while to get these shots. Kylie's 2nd birthday was yesterday, we have been celebrating all week. Big birthday post to come!!!

Happy Birthday to my Baby!!

Well my baby is TWO today...two, I cannot believe it?? I swear everyone says that one they are newborns time flies, but honestly when Kylie was newborn I never thought I would make it to this point, HAHA. Sorry but those who have actually been through clinically diagnosed colic know what I am talking about. And I must say the old saying that colicky babies make the sweetest children really is true. Don't get me wrong we have our moments, but for the most part we are blessed with such a sweetheart. She will give you hugs, kisses, ask you if you are okay and never wants anyone to be upset. We have really been celbrating her special day and it has been so much fun. This is the 1st time she actually understands that something special has been planned just for her. We had our entire family over last night for a little family celebration and she loved showing everyone her "pretty" decorations and the dining room table with balloons and flowers. She ate it up! We had a great time and it was a special night!

Miss Independent on Independence Day

We had a fantastic 4th of July! One thing I love about our little town is that everyone sure knows how to throw a good party on a holiday. The 4th was no different. Saturday we went to the pool for fun and games. They had LOTS of fun and entertaining pool games. Kylie participated in the 4 and under coin dive in the baby pool. Some of the big girls helped her and she loved. She was so proud of all of her coins. She got quite a few too! Lee and Tommy decided to participate in the beer dive and the biggest splash contest. Both HILARIOUS!! Lee won the biggest splash contest by a landslide, it was funny and we were all glad that there was still some water left in the pool. The judges robbed him though and gave the ribbon to another guy (only b/c it was his birthday!). His splash did not compare. Haha. They beer dive was pretty funny, they put a bunch of tokens in the deep end and all the adults get to dive for tokens for beer. We thought we could use the tokens all summer, but later found out that you had to use them all that day. For those that know Lee...you know that all 14 beers were consumed before we left. Haha! It was a fun day with friends. Then on Sunday we went to the Mallory Drive neighborhood cookout and 4th of July parade. Thomas Clay and Kylie had a blast in the wagon together.
Ready for the coin dive
