Corks & Canvas

Okay, so I know most of you that read our blog live in a much larger city than we and have done this a million times, so forgive my excitement if this is nothing new to you and you have been there done that! This weekend, my friends and I finally were able to go to Corks and Canvas in Montgomery. It was a blast. I have to admit that I was stressed up until the time that we began painting b/c I did not want mine to look like crap. I can not even draw a good stick person for goodness sakes. BUT I think the painting turned out pretty good and we had such a fun time. We have decided to go monthly if schedules will allow. We went during the day this time, because the night painting was not as cute...but next time we are definitely going at night so we will not feel bad about drinking wine mid-afternoon. It was a great day out with the girls! We headed out of Selma around 11 and had lunch at Jalapenos and then headed down to create our works of art. When we finished our paintings, we made a Target run and then came on back home. Can't wait to go back!

Weekend Recap

We had a great weekend. Our only complaint was that it went by way too fast. Here is a rundown of what we were up to this weekend.
FRIDAY
Mary Grace was on Spring Break last week, so she decided to come visit Friday afternoon before heading back to work this week. We had a great visit and can't wait for her to come back again soon. Kylie loves her MG. And Kyle and MG brought Kylie some fun goodies that were too cute (post on that to come). One of the surprises was bubbles, which Kylie loves! MG blew bubbles for her on the porch and Kylie loved it. Thanks again for the surprises and coming to visit!!

SATURDAY
We played hard on Saturday. We went back and forth from playing inside to playing outside. I went to Montgomery late Saturday afternoon with my friend, Courtney, and Lee kept Kylie while I was gone. Kaley and Tommy brought Thomas Clay over Saturday night and he and Kylie had so much fun together!!! They are so cute together. Thomas Clay would stare at Kylie and start smiling and laughing. He is so adorable.

SUNDAY
On Sunday, we made the drive to Birmingham for Vica's Birthday. She will be 4 yearsl old next week and since Honey's Bday was last week we celebrated both yesterday. Vica is the only one of our nieces and nephews that has not had a birthday since coming to the US from the Ukraine. So she was SUPER excited and ready for her birthday party. Amanda and Jerry attached the baby swing to their swing set and Kylie got to swing for the 1st time. We have a swing at home but Lee has not hung ours yet...hopefully he will take a break from turkey hunting and hang Kylie's swing.

Out with the Old, in with the New

Well we had to make some changes this week. For starters, Kylie had to get a new tub. The seat thing we had was a little too confining and she loves bath time so for 10 bucks this was a great purchase. She spent 30 minutes playing in the new tub last night and it is precious!

In other changes, I have now ditched my Chicco infant seat and we installed the Britax this weekend. She really likes sitting in it so much better. Kylie weighs around 19 pounds so lugging that infant carrier around was horrible. We snapped a quick pic as we were getting ready to head to school this morning. She was still half asleep when I took these.

We think we are hot stuff

Especially when we are standing

And when we get to wear our new spring clothes

8 Months and Growing

Kylie bug is getting so big and is getting more and more curious! Over the weekend, we had two bottom teeth begin to pop up. She is getting both at one time (a good and bad thing!). They have just broken through the gums. I have tried giving her puffs, yogurt melts, and other things that are SUPPOSE to dissolve easily but she cannot grasp those just yet. She has choked and it has scared me so bad. So we will wait a little longer before doing those things. Any tips on introducing solids? She is doing pretty good taking juice from a cup after trying at least seven different sippy cups this one was the winner.
She is into everything!! Every little piece of dirt, lint or anything else she can find on the floor is fascinating. She says Da-da all the time, but says it to Dolly more than Lee. Haha. We still have not mastered the "mmm" sound for mama (I don't think I can do Mommy...just not me). Last weekend she pulled up for the first time, but just this past weekend she has decided to do it regularly. We desperately need some new toys. BAD. I am thinking that we need one of these. This way she could stand and play. It is now time to pack up the swing, and most of the baby gadgets. She still loves her music though!!!!!! We have definitely got our monies worth out of this thing. She plays with it everyday ALOT. PawPaw picked it out and it has been a hit since Christmas. Kylie LOVES Dolly, she will crawl around your shoulder when she hears Dolly to see her. Dolly is fond of Kylie bug too, but we still have to watch them very close as Kylie will pull her hair. Feeding times are still a hit, she still loves everything we have given her. I also started giving her some Yo-Baby yogurt which she loves. Here are some 8 month pics, it was even harder this month to get her to sit still and I am sure that will be a continuous problem!

Spring Please

I am hoping the forecast is correct and we are now going to be warming up to the
70s. I cannot take anymore cold weather. Between battling sickness, having to warm my car up super early before I commute to Montgomery, bundling Kylie up in many layers before we even leave the house all are reasons I am ready to see this weather disappear. Everyone posted super cute pics of their kiddies and the snow, but we just weren't into it. I did manage to get a few pics of the snow on my way to the grocery store. As you can see, we did not get very much. It was just cold and yucky. And, no we did not even attempt to get Kylie out for a 1st snow pic. Not worth risking another possible ear infection or worse.

In other happenings, Wen- Wen and I took Kylie back to Childrens Hospital in downtown Bham last week for follow up on her ear surgery. She had a lot of bleeding in one ear after surgery and some of the dried blood has covered up the tube in the left ear. Meaning if she were to get an ear infection, the tube would not function as it would not be able to drain. So we have to put 3 drops of white vinegar in her left ear to dissolve the blood and then take her next week and hope they can clean the tube. I am not sure if this means another round of anesthesia or what. I have a huge deal closing the end of this month and have been slammed at work, so Lee and Honey will make the drive to Bham next week and see about the tube. While Wen-Wen and I were in Bham we did manage to make our way to Sikes in downtown Homewood and get Kylie fitted for her 1st pair of shoes. They are precious! They still look a little weird on her to me and I have not let her wear them just yet. She did pull up this weekend and has been pulling up at nursery so moving to the shoes will be just around the corner. Aren't they precious??

We have also been going through sleep bootcamp (i.e. scream for fun at night) at our house. It is rough, but I really do think it is working. She is beginning to cry less and less and last night she only got up once, which is much better. After the ENT gave her the all clear on any possibility of an ear infection, he politely told us that her not sleeping was not to blame on her ears but the fact that she is indeed SPOILED. Go figure.
Speaking of spoiled...Honey, Amanda and I are going to Cottontails at the BJCC in Birmingham on Saturday. I am very excited, last year I had just found out that we were having a girl and we were all too scared to buy anything girlie at that point b/c it was so early and Amanda and Jerry were just getting ready to leave for Ukraine so we had no clue what to buy (or how many of each :)) at that point. I do not think we will have a problem this year!!

I've Been Tagged!

Thanks Morgan for tagging me you know I love these. Morgan tagged me to go to my 6th folder and publish my 6th picture. Well here it goes and b/c it is sooo beautiful I am posting the 7th picture too which is another view...

Above are pictures 6 and 7 from my 6th picture folder on my computer. And they are of our house. Let me rephrase, they are pics of our house before we bought it and before we PAINTED. These are pictures of what was going to be the nursery. We repainted (and PRIMED and PRIMED) and replaced the flooring. Could you imagine if she slept in something that magenta???? She would be destined to be a crazy for sure. Haha. Trust me, my camera did not even come close touching how hot pink this room was before we moved in. Too funny.
So that being shown, I now am posting the after so that you can see that my child does not sleep in a SCARY magenta room.

And yes, that is Kylie Bug napping in her bed. I should be cleaning while she naps but of course, I am blogging!
